Mount Vernon Presbyterian Upper School
Client: Mount Vernon Presbyterian School
Size: 73,000 Square Feet
Cost: $10.5 Million
Rating: LEED Silver (in process)

Part of a comprehensive master plan, the upper school/administration building consists of classrooms, administration, and a 11,000 s.f. gymnasium. The site accommodated a geothermal ground loop beneath a new sports field which serves most of the heating/cooling needs. High efficiency air-cooled rooftop units serve the gymnasium.

These measures, in conjunction with increased building envelope insulation, high-efficiency glazing, and software-based automation system, result in a 38.6% energy savings over code-required minimums. The geothermal loop is expandable to serve additional campus buildings.

75% of construction waste was diverted as recycled material, and 10% of the construction materials were of recycled content.
